Overview
Shree Birendra Hospital, previously known as Birendra Sainik Hospital, was founded in 1990 and is operated by the Nepal Army in Chhauni, Kathmandu. Originally catering exclusively to army personnel, retired army personnel and their families, the hospital now offers outpatient services to civilians as well. The hospital plans to expand its capacity to 900 beds to better serve the civilian population. In 2020, the hospital began providing free hemodialysis services to civilians. Additionally, Shree Birendra Hospital serves as a teaching hospital for postgraduate programs administered by the Nepal Army Institute of Health Science, and is under the oversight of the Nepal Army Medical Corps and the Director-General of Medical Services of Nepal Army Headquarters.
